Dr. Andrea Giansanti was born in Perugia (Italy) in 1953, he has got the Laurea in Physics cum laude from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, in 1977. Initially he had a scholarship from the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) and in 1981 he has been appointed as an assistant professor at Rome University.
He has worked, both theoretically and experimentally, on subjects ranging from molecular and computational biophysics to nonlinear dynamics and the statistical mechanics of hamiltonian systems.
He taught several courses in experimental physics, condensed matter physics and biophysics, at undergraduate and graduate level. He has been a member of the board of the graduate school in Biophysics at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
He has published over 50 papers on international journals on different subjects. He has supervised more than 40 Master and PhD Theses in Italian universities.
He has visited for extended periods the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at the Rockefeller University in the US and the CECAM in France. He did research in the Universities of Trento Catania and Lecce in Italy.
He has organised local and international meetings in the field of biophysics and statistical physics.
